In May 2016, Jan did a weather internship at KARE 11. Before this, Ryherd did a Meteorology Internship at WOI News from January 2016 to April 2017. Prior to KCRG Weather, Jan was a meteorologist at KOLN from May 2017 to August 2020. Later, she became a Pool Supervisor at the company from May 2013 to August 2014.
After completing her school, Jan took her first job at the City of Webster City as an Assistant Swim Team Coach in January 2011.
Meanwhile, Jan was also actively involved in Cy’s Eyes on the Skies, a weather broadcast at school, While working there, Ryherd was a producer and director during her school years. She was also an active member of the Central Iowa NWA chapter and student AMS chapter. She completed her BS in Meteorology and Journalism at Iowa State University from 2013 to 2017. Ryherd attended High School at Webster City from 2009 to 2013. She further enjoys the fact that the weather never bores her since it gives a different excitement every time. It was her younger days when Ryherd fell in love with the unstable weather. After a few days of her joining, the weather went crazy in Iowa, but that is what attracts her to be a meteorologist.
